How It Was

Our History

Press Together was founded by partners Jason Churchwell and Jared Thurmon in 2013. Jason and Jared are committed Christians who started Press Together with the mission of helping people live healthier lives.

In November of 2013, Press Together opened its doors as a cold-pressed, organic juice bar in Buckhead, GA. Located in the One Atlanta Plaza, Press Together bottled fresh juices in a 400 sq./ft. space. Two additional locations were quickly added while retaining bottling operations at their original Buckhead location.

Jason and Jared pioneered an innovative strategy to bring organic cold-pressed into the most exclusive workspaces in the Atlanta metro area. Press Together’s menu quickly expanded and included eleven juices, four cashew milks, and three flavored alkaline waters. A Detox Box was introduced and contained five juices, one milk, and three flavored alkaline waters.
From it’s humble beginnings, Press Together rapidly expanded and became known as the premier organic cold-press juice bar in Atlanta.

Many miles away from Press Together’s operations in Atlanta, GA, young Seventh-day Adventists formed a group called THRIVE. Westney White and Jo Cadiz lead this group into sponsoring churches for periods of nine months. They trained church members, engaged in Bible studies, organized community medical clinics, and promoted whole body health with the people they interacted with.

In 2015, THRIVE moved their team to Ogden, UT where they worked and ministered along side Pastor Ryan Hablitzel at the Ogden Seventh-day Adventist Church. At the conclusion of the nine month program in Ogden, Westney, Jo, and Ryan discussed the possibility of opening a juice bar to provide THRIVE with a more sustainable platform to positively engage and impact communities. The concept for a juice bar focused on the greater good of communities was born.

Pastor Ryan Hablitzel continued to push along the not-for-profit juice bar concept. Ryan made the project the subject of his doctoral dissertation, recruited individuals to serve on a board of directors, and fundraised enough up-front capital to get started. What emerged was not simply a cold-pressed juice bar business, but a plan for a new type of church that provided sustainable employment for mission mined young people and engaged communities with street level hands-on ministry.

Jason Churchwell and Ryan Hablitzel, who knew each other from working together at Daystar Adventist Academy in 2012, reconnected and discussed a partnership with Press Together. After patience and prayer, Jason and Jared made the decision to sell Press Together to the Nevada-Utah Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. This would allow Ryan to bring a proven cold-press juice brand to Utah for the project. Jason has remained on with the project as a Press Together board member and executive advisor.

Press Together opened two city center hub locations in Utah. The first location was in Ogden on historic 25th street, and the other was in Logan on Federal Avenue next to well-known Caffe Ibis. Lead by Pastor Ryan, the Press Together board, and the Nevada-Utah Conference, Press Together is making plans to open several other locations in city centers throughout Nevada and Utah.
